Compliance deadline - Companies Amendment Act 2014
The deadline for New Zealand companies to comply with the first transitional period under the Companies Amendment Act 2014 is fast approaching.
On 28 October 2015 all New Zealand companies must have at least one director that either lives in New Zealand, or lives in Australia and is a director of a company incorporated in Australia.
What’s more, when filing annual returns after 28 October 2015, New Zealand companies will need to indicate whether any director living in Australia is also a director of a company incorporated in Australia. If they are, they’ll need to provide details of one of those Australian companies (Australian Company Number (ACN), name and registered office address).
These changes have been introduced to improve the integrity of the information held on the register and have been phased in to give companies time to prepare. New Zealand companies that don’t comply by this date risk being removed from the register.
