Lodging an amended climate statement

Amending a lodgement after it has been published on the register

If you have lodged a climate statement and need to amend it, you can lodge amended documents on the Climate-related Disclosures Register.

What you need to provide

Upload a copy of the amended climate statement and a cover letter explaining how it differs from the climate statement already lodged.

  • You can upload one or more documents.
  • Documents must be PDF files and be less than 20MB.
  • The file names you choose will be displayed on the public register so they should accurately describe the documents you upload.

There are no fees to pay when lodging an amendment.

Who can lodge an amendment

  1. A CRE can authorise at least 2 people within their own organisation to lodge its climate statements including any amendments, or
  2. A CRE can authorise a third-party organisation to act on its behalf. That third-party will in turn authorise at least 2 people within their organisation to lodge climate statements or amendments on behalf of the CRE.

No matter which option you choose we will need to set up an online account for your organisation. We will also need to set up logins for each person authorised to lodge climate statements and amendments.

How to lodge an amended statement

  1. Log in (using your RealMe login details)
  2. From your dashboard find and select the climate reporting entity (CRE).
    • You can search for them using their name or New Zealand Business Number (NZBN).
Note if the CRE is a Managed Investment Scheme manager, you will see a list of schemes. Select the scheme you need to amend a climate statement for.
  3. For the relevant reporting period select the ‘Amend’ button.
  4. We will display the details recorded for the assurance practitioner.
You cannot update any of the assurance practitioner details you recorded when lodging a climate statement. If these details are incorrect, please contact the Financial Markets Authority (FMA).
  5. Upload additional climate statement documents, or
  6. Replace an existing climate statement document:
    • Select the menu (down arrow) next to the document.
    • Choose ‘Delete’ then upload the replacement document.
  7. Acknowledge you have read the declaration.
  8. Select ‘Submit’.

If we have any questions, we will contact the person who submitted the amended statement and let you know what we need.

Once we have accepted the amended climate statement:

  • we publish it on the register, and
  • we advise the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) that a lodgement has been amended.
