Ways to get our data

There are five ways to access Companies Office data — by request, bulk data download, API, NZAUConnect or directly from our register applications.

Which method you use depends on your needs

Request data

For one-off data requests, a custom data extract (such as one limited by dates or location) or any non-public data (such as information about a company authority), you should use our online request form.

Download bulk data

If you want a monthly data set or to manually extract data, you can download the entire public data set for the Companies Register and the NZBN Register (Public Sector entities, Sole Traders, Partnerships and Trusts).

The data sets are monthly snapshots, available in both XML and JSON formats.

Connect to our APIs

Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) allow your system to retrieve information from us automatically. If you want to integrate our data with your own applications or systems, especially if you want real-time information, you are best to use one or more of our APIs.

There are APIs for the Companies, Financial Service Providers, Disclose, Personal Property Securities and NZBN Registers.

Get data directly from our registers

If yours is a one-off request about a small number of companies (or other business entities), you can access the data directly on the register applications.

All registers

If you need the data for a large number of entities, you’re advised to make a request instead.
